Antenna DXer-206 suddenly stopped to work: the SWR rise up to infinity during my FT-8 mode operation on 20 meter band. What was happened I discovered when lowered the antenna.
Looks like the balun was not simply burned, but exploded! This balun is designed for input power up to 5 kW, but I applied no more than 800 W. It was happend just a day before to CQ WW CW Contest. I had not anything to replace, so prepared simple "ugly" balun from piece of RG-213 coax.
5 turn, diameter 100 mm. Look like work good. Below is a SWR test whole system (including 28 meter of cable to the shack):
Sure, not the best especially on 20 and 17 meter, but better, than nothing. I will try to do something better in a wormer time. But 25th of November the temperature outside was -3 degrees, windy and snow. But, at least, it gave me the opportunity to work in CQWWCW Contest in LP class. Total 536 QSO and 202070 points.
